Vincent Willem van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh was born in 1853. He was the son of Anna Cornelia Carbentus and Theodorus van Gogh, to a priest of the Dutch reformed church. To him was given denselbe names, like his grandfather and a brother who was born exactly one year before deadly. Art and religion were two occupations by which the family Vincent van Goghs was drawn. Vincent van Gogh planned originally to study theology. Vincent van Gogh spent his early life to work for an enterprise of art dealers. After a short period as a teacher he became an amateur preacher in a very poor mine area. Till 1880 he did not think of a career as an artist. Professional and personal failure brought him to the painting in which he saw a possibility to give expression to the spiritual and emotional tensions. The central figure in Vincent van Goghs life was his brother Theo who made available financial support constantly and unselfishly. Their friendship for life is documented in numerous letters which they exchanged from August, 1872. At the beginning Vincent van Gogh worked only with sombre colours, until he bumped in Paris into impressionism and neoimpressionism. Although his own style was developed, primarily, autodidactically, he combined impressionistic brighter colours and her style of the painting in his unique style. This was completely developed, after he sat down in the Provence. It is seen as the zenith of his creative work. During the last ten years of his life Vincent van Gogh created more than 2,000 works, about 900 pictures and 1,100 drawings and sketches. Most of his best known works were generated during the last two years of his life during which time Vincent van Gogh cut off himself, after a depression in connection with his friendship with Paul Gauguin, a part of his left ear. Then he endured returning attacks of the spiritual illness. In 1890 Vincent van Gogh died as a result of an attempted suicide. Today the pictures van Goghs which were not for sale during his lifetime are auctioned to too much high prices. Vincent van Gogh is a pioneer of that what came after him and became known as an expressionism. Vincent van Gogh had huge influence on the art of the 20-th century, especially on the Fauvisten and the German expressionists.
