Édouard Manet

Édouard Manetwas a French painter. Édouard Manet was one of the first artists of the nineteenth century who approached subjects of the modern life. It was a key figure in the crossing of the realism to the impressionism. His early masterpiece " breakfast in the Green " and "Olympia" was taken up very much kontroversiell and served as a Brenpunkt for the young painters who would create the impressionism. Today these are looked as the turning point pictures which mark the origin of the modern art.

Édouard Manet was born in 1832 in Paris in a well-to-do and established family. Mother, Eugénie-Desirée Fournier and father, Auguste Manet.

From 1850 to 1856 Édouard Manet studied under the academic painter Thomas Couture. In his spare time he copied the old master in the Louvre. He was under influence of fringing neck, Diegos Velázquez and Franciscos de Goya. Shortly after he opened his own studio. His early style was characterised by free brushstrokes, simplification of details and the suppression of transitional tones. The topical style of the realism begun by Gustave Courbet accepting, he painted " the absinthe alcoholic " and the other contemporary subjects, like beggar, singer, Gipsy, people in cafés, and bullfights.

An early main work " breakfast in the Green " was rejected by the Paris Salon in 1863, but he exhibited it in the drawing room of the rejected later in the year.
