Amedeo Clemente Modigliani

was an Italian artist who was active as a painter as well as as a sculptor and pursued his career mainly in France. Under influence of a row of genres and art schools the creating Modiglianis was unique.

Amedeo Modigliani was born in a Jewish family in Livorno in Tuscany. The family lived in big poverty and Amedeo became when he was about eleven and also afterwards by his whole youth, afflicted from health problems. He fallen ill with tuberculosis, was only badly treated and the results should cost to him letzenendes the life.

He worked already very young in the art school of Micheli. His earliest artistic instructions took place in an atmosphere of the styles and subjects of the Italian art of the nineteenth century. In his earliest Paris works tracks of this influence and of his studies of the Renaissance art, can be still seen. His connection with the French impressionists was given by Guglielmo Micheli, his first art teacher. However, he preferred to paint at home.

In 1902 Tu Barking Arti " or " free school of the nude studies " in Florence and year later in the " Istituto Tu Barking Arti " in Venice corresponded Modigliani in the " Accademia one. There he began his Bohemian life. Formed already as a boy of the philosophical literature fond of and also accordingly, he went away to read and influences by his art studies and the writings of Nietzsche, Baudelaire, Carducci, Comte de Lautréamont and other, he developed the faith that the only way was to the true creativity, by the opposition and the mess.

During his early years in Paris worked Modigliani at a furious speed. He did constantly sketches, hundred drawings per day were no rarity. Many of his works were destroyed by himself as inferior. He was first under influence Henris de Toulouse-Lautrec, and later of Paul Cézanne. In the end, he developed his own, unique style which cannot be categorised with other artists.

On the 3rd December, 1917 the first single exhibit of Modigliani opened in the gallery of Berthe Weill and had to be closed within a few hours after her opening again.

Modigliani has died on the 24th January, 1920 at the age of 35 years, his dear Hébuterne for life leaving behind. Two days after the death of Modigliani she took from herself and her unborn child the life. After his death his call has risen, today his pictures achieve top prices.
