Albin Egger-Lienz
He studied first under his father (a church painter), later he studied in the academy of arts in Munich where he was under the influence Franz Defreggers and the French painter Jean-François Millet. As an artist Albin Egger-Lienz had a special predilection for the rural genre and historical pictures; under the influence of Ferdinand Hodler Egger-Lienzabstracted his formal language in monumentally expressiveness. 1899 he moved to Vienna. While 1911 and 1912 he was professor at the Weimar school of fine arts, and served during the First World War as a war painter. In 1918 he finished a professorship in the Viennese academy and settled in the area of Bolzano where he died on the 4th November, 1926 in the Saint Justina-Rentsch
