Jack Vettriano

The British painter Jack Vettriano was born on the 7th November, 1951 in the Scottish city of Fife.

As a young man he worked in Scottish coal mines. He taught the times itself autodidactically.

In 1989 Jack Vettriano could exhibit his works in the royal Scottish Academy and thereby became known all of a sudden of a wide general public. Then exhibits followed in Edinburgh, London, New York and Hong Kong.

In 2003 Jack Vettriano was appointed the honourary doctor the Saint Andrew's University. In 2004 his painting reached " The Singing of butler " on an auction with Southeby's in London the record price from 700,000 pounds. It was highest for the work of a contemporary artist a paid-up price.

Some years Jack Vettriano exhibited in London Portland Gallery. Today Jack Vettriano works in London and has there his own gallery.

His works are certainly from the atmosphere of French "film noir". The representations are extremely realistic and show almost without exception persons in everyday situations. Today Jack Vettriano has numerous eager followers in Great Britain and the whole world.
