Friedensreich Hundertwasser
Of Friedensreich Hundertwasser original, intractable, sometimes shocking artistic vision expressed itself in graphic arts, environment protection movement, philosophy and design of facades, stamps, flags and clothing. The general subjects of his work are a refusal him Just, bright colours, to organic forms, a reconciliation of person and nature and a strong individualism. He remains sui generis, although his architectural work is comparable with Antoni Gaudí in his Biomorphic forms and use of bricks. He was inspired by the early works Egon Schieles and his style had been often compared to that of Gustav Klimt. He was fascinated by spirals and called Just " the tools of the devil ". He called his theory of the art "trans-automatism", being based on the surrealistic automatism, but concentrates upon the experience of the spectator, not those of the artist. His accepted surname is based on the translation of Sto (the Czech word for "100") into German. The name Peace empire has a double meaning as an " empire of the peace " or " richly in peace " (for the purposes of "peacefully"). Although Friedensreich Hundertwasser reached first fame for his daringly coloured pictures, today he is even more famous for his revolutionary architectural plannings which combine natural qualities of the scenery and the use of irregular forms in his design. The Friedensreich Hundertwasser house, a local construction in Vienna, is by wave floors (" an uneven floor melody for the feet "), one with earth is an overcast, with grass and bushes planted roof and big trees which grow from the rooms, with the branches which stretch themselves out from windows. He took no payment for the draught and the planning of the Friedensreich Hundertwasser house and explained that it was worth to him this " something ugly to prevent what would have originated, otherwise, there ". He thought that the standard architecture could not be called art and explained that the design of every building should stand under influence of the aesthetics of his possible tenants. Friedensreich Hundertwasser was also known for his action art in which he appeared, for example, in the nude around an ecological toilet without flush promoted. On the 4th July, 1958 it be read a famous and controversial Verschimmelungs manifesto, the so-called form manifesto against the Rationalismus in the architecture in the abbey of Seckau. " A person in a flat must be in the state to bend from his window and to scrape off the masonry within the reach of the arm. And to him must be allowed to take a long brush and to paint everything outdoors within the reach of the arm. So that to everybody on the street becomes visible that there somebody lives who differs from the locked up, enslaved, standardised person who lives behind the next door. " In 1972 he published the manifesto " your window right - your tree duty: The plants of trees in urban surroundings should become compulsory: If one goes for a walk in the midst of the nature, one is a guest of the nature and must learn to behave as a well educated guest. " His work has been used for flags, brands, coins, posters, schools, churches, a public toilet in Kawakawa in his house in his adoptive country New Zealand and dwelling houses. His most famous flag is the Koru flag. He has also sketched brands for the Cape Verde islands and for the postal administration of the United Nations in Geneva on the occasion of the 35-th anniversary of the declaration of the human rights. In 1999 he began his last project, called " the green stronghold of Magdeburg ". Although he never finished this work completely, the building was built a few years later in Magdeburg, a city in central Germany, and was opened, in the end, on the 3rd October, 2005. Peace empire Friedensreich Hundertwasser died on the 19th February, 2000 aboard the " queen Elizabeth 2. He was on return journey from New Zealand where he had stayed longer time, to Vienna. According to his last wish, he was buried on the 3rd March on his property in New Zealand. His grave is under a magnolia tree, Hundertwasse was wrapped in the nude in a flag sketched by him with the Koru symbol and was buried without coffin.
